Navy To Study On PSP

Fighter pilots train on PC flight simulators, so now the Royal Navy has just invested £50,000 in 230 PSPs to help marine engineers prepare for exams. As you'd expect, the PSPs come with custom software explaining aspects of the work under scrutiny, with both video and audio explanations for the hard of reading.
However, it has had at least one somewhat sniffy review from the Navy brass.
Commander Trevor Price said: "We are working on the premise that looking at a book is now seen as dull and boring. When I was at school you sat at your desk and you did your work and that was it." That's them told.

Paolo Parente Mech Walker Kits

DUST is a "What if world", a fictionary world based on our true history and mixed-up with science fiction, created by Paolo Parente. Toys, Kits & Comics all available on his site!!

The setting is around 1950 the "cold war" where all the superpowers are developing new high-tech armaments, getting ready for a new war…

The difference is that amongst them we find Nazi Germany and their Axis allies, who were the first to develop new weapon technologies at the end of 1944, ending the ward in a different way compared to history.

Thanks to Toybot Studios for showing this to me!

The Guitar Pulsar

Discovered in 1992, this pulsar is flying through a gas cloud and producing a shock wave that looks, at a closer inspection, like a guitar. Scientists have now deduced that the pulsar's path indicates that 800,000 years ago it was fired from a cluster of massive stars that now lies about 6500 light years away from Earth.

Custom Homemade Toys

Sabretooth, a member of Figure Realm, has the whole custom toy thing down! Whether its making a toy from scratch from bits and pieces, or just customising other toys.

This figurine, from the movie District 9 was built from a Transformers Thundercracker 2007 movie toy, half of a broken Lego Bionicle, some chopsticks, sheet plastic, paint and "a lot of time and patience." He stands approximately 3 3/4" tall and is highly poseable.

This Optimus Prime figurine was repainted using Tamiya acrylics and some weathering techinques. As for his gun it was scratch built out of pieces.

This is the Big Daddy character from the game Bioshock. He started off as a Kingpin Faceoff Marvel Legend and through about a weeks worth of toil and trouble and a pack of leds here's the end result. The wire guard around his head is actual wire, and there are 8 leds in his head. All the detail work was hand sculpted. The drill was made from scratch, using alot of magic sculpt.

3 Great Paper Art Designers

Rotterdam-based artist Bert Simons makes these scarily realistic papercraft models, by first making 3D models of real subjects.
"Howl's Moving Castle" was created by Ben Millett. It took Ben about 72 hours to build it, spread over 3 weeks and looks exactly like the anime version.

Japanese art student Wataru Itou, took over 4 years to create this amazing castle and features lights and a moving train. It's probably the most stunning papercraft sculpture ever. The sculpture is called "A Castle on the Sea," and is currently exhibited at Uminohotaru.

Fly Advertising and Herakut Videos

Ronzo recently sent me these two videos and so I thought I'd share them with you.....

To promote their exhibition stand at the Frankfurt Book Fair, Eichborn the publisher prepared 200 flies with an ultra light banner. The banner was attached with natural wax. After a short time the banner dropped off by itself. And the flies were not harmed.
