Wall Writers Documentary

From director Roger Gastman—a producer of the Academy Award-nominated documentary Exit Through the Gift Shop—comes Wall Writers, a documentary on graffiti in its innocence. Through unprecedented access to TAKI 183, CORNBREAD, and a host of other legendary writers, Wall Writers tells the story of a time when underprivileged city kids refused to keep lurking in the shadows, when the streets were so wild that fame and infamy became indistinct, when art became a democracy and self-promotion became an art. And the narration is done by John Waters! [VIA]

Buddy Nestor Dark Portraits

Buddy was born and raised in Collingswood, New Jersey. He was a Latch-Key Kid during the birth of cable TV. This led to endless hours in front of the television, watching movies and drawing. He gravitated toward strange cult and horror films. As a skateboarder in the late 80’s and early 90’s, he was exposed to Punk, Indie, and Heavy Metal music. In 1997, after the birth of his son, Buddy decided to teach himself to paint. In 1999, he traveled around the world on an aircraft carrier and painted every day....

Matthew Davis Pooled Oil Paintings

Berlin-based artist Matthew Davis creates these surreal images by using his brush to slowly drip oil paints into small pools. After each color dries over a period of several days a new layer is added resulting in a dense, multi-dimensional surface.

Shadows by Joe Pease

The predatory Bird presents this fantastic short by Joe Pease presenting an entirely unique way of seeing skateboarding. The title supposedly is inspired by this essay on Peter Pan. I'm sure the big wigs and fat cats will get their greasy mits all over this concept before too long and rape it of all it's worth. Remember Joe did it first!

Graeme

Thank you Will Robson Scott for making this video of a true icon of the London skateboarding fraternity. I have been skateboarding in and around the city of London for nearly 20 years, in that time Graeme has always been there. His passion and intimate knowledge of the skateboarding industry in general is remarkable. Though he may not remember your name, he will always be there to reminisce and roll about with you checking out what's underneath everyones feet and having a go to see how it rides. Big up Graeme,
may your skating days be a-plenty.

"Have fun skating!" - Graeme.

The Cement Factory Loft

The Cement Factory, is a place Ricardo Bofill (Spanish Architect and studied at the School of Architecture in Switzerland)discovered in 1973. "The factory was part of an industrial complex from the turn of the century, comprising over 30 silos, underground galleries and huge engine rooms. Remodeling work lasted two years. The factory, abandoned and partially in ruins, was a compendium of surrealist elements—stairs that climbed up to nowhere, mighty reinforced concrete structures that sustained nothing, pieces of iron hanging in the air; in short, huge empty spaces filled nonetheless with magic. The complex stands in the midst of gardens of eucalyptus, palms, olive trees and cypresses. It also features Ricardo Bofill’s house and guest rooms..."
